Do you ever feel, in the daily rush of life, like a swimmer fighting the waves? Run here, run there, catch this, catch that… Your manager’s whims, clients playing hard to get, the state of the market… Is your goal always just to maintain the status quo and avoid slipping backwards — to carry on as an average person with average achievements? Could that be the real reason you’re so tired? I’ve said it before: there’s no such thing as standing still. You either move forward or you slide back. If you aim to be average, you’ll be fighting the waves constantly just to stay average.
You didn’t come into this world to be average. You’re not a decorative plant that grows in any old pot. You’re a human being, with emotions, thoughts and creative abilities. Is there another one of you anywhere in this vast universe? No one like you has ever come into this world, and no one ever will. You are as precious as a rare pearl. Why waste your unique difference and potential trying to be average? As a child you were different; you went to bed at night with dreams. So when did you decide to give up your dreams and become an average person?
If you only give what’s expected of you, if you only try to be an average person, you’ll live like a plant. You won’t enjoy life. Like a dead fish, the light in your eyes will go out. Do you want to be vibrant and full of life? Then break away from the herd. Stop trying to be average. Take your power back into your own hands. It’s time to unleash your potential!
None of Them Tried to Be Average

Picasso could never have become Picasso as an average painter churning out imitations here and there. He became himself — extraordinary. He created a style no one had done before and gave the whole world the gift of his difference and his skill.

Mozart didn’t become Mozart by trying to be an average musician. His only goal wasn’t to teach music at a school and scrape a living from private lessons. He created. He brought into being things that had never existed. He poured his soul and heart into his work.

Einstein, had he simply settled into a comfortable job and waited for retirement, might have left our world far further behind scientifically and technologically. Instead, he chose to create — passionately — to research and to be extraordinary. He devoted every minute he spent in this world to being himself.
Maybe your drawings are stick figures, your songs are karaoke-night standard, and your grasp of science stops at school level. Rest assured, Picasso’s passion for science and Einstein’s ear for music were no better than yours.
There are certainly areas where you can contribute to this world by discovering your potential, letting your art speak and putting your soul into it.
Stop trying to be average. Be yourself — in other words, be extraordinary, because your purpose in coming into this world is to make a difference to it. Discover the talents you’ve been given. Activate your potential. Put your whole soul and artistry into your work.
Whatever you do, aim to be the best in the world at it.
Be a Mozart, a Picasso, an Einstein in your own field.

In other words — be yourself! You don’t need to imitate anyone else; you only need to be yourself.
The whole world needs you to be YOU.
